Welcome To Delphi Preschool!

Getting your child a good start on Preschool!

  • Please ensure your child is well rested and fed before school.
  • Please arrive on-time.
  • Please do not bring toys to school.
  • Please bring a change of clothes.
  • Please bring a blanket and fitted crib sheet, if your child is going to nap.
  • Please label your child’s belongings.

Potty Training

If your child is not yet potty trained now is the time to get started! We can help. Please start potty training at home right away. We will be working with you to help you and your child to transition into using a toilet easily.

The child should be in training pants or diapers during the day. Please bring plenty of diapers or training pants and wipes with your child’s name on it. During this transition it will be necessary to bring a change of clothes daily.

Preschool Rules and Disciplinary Policies

Delphi Academy pledges to provide a safe and secure environment for children, and tomaintain close communication with parents about all aspects of their schooling. We promote the child’s rights to develop and learn as an individual, and our activities and rules are structured to enable learning and contribution to the group. Our intention is that each child learns, without threat and duress, that following the rules will help them to be happier and more successful at whatever they do in life.

Preschool Policies

  • We keep the child busy, completing the actions they begin.
  • We divert their attention and validate their good actions.
  • We make sure they have had enough food and rest, are not feeling ill and do not have to use the bathroom.
  • We show them why their action was not appropriate and give them the opportunity to make amends for it. Ask them what they can do, but do not force them to do it.

If the above actions are not successful and they are still disturbing the class, we will separate them from the group, always leaving them under adult supervision. If they repeatedly cause disruption and all the above have been done, we will call the parent and have a conference, either by phone or in person at the school. Based upon the results of this conference, the child may then be removed from the school for a period of time agreed upon mutually by the parent and school, with the understanding that when they return, they will be on probation for one week. Children are not to be subjected to discipline which is severe, humiliating, frightening or associated with food, rest or using the potty. No spanking or corporal punishment of any kind is permitted for any reason by any staff member at the school.

Healthy Lunch and Snack Recommendations

Delphi has two snacks and a lunch during the day. Snack times run for 15 minutes and lunch for 30 minutes. It’s important to have well-fed students when they return to class. Students often like to socialize as well during this time. This can “eat up” their time to eat. We have staff supervising during this time to encourage eating and help with opening snacks and heating up lunch. When a student returns to class without being properly fed he will have difficulty studying and tend to not feel right. This can be exhibited in different ways; unwillingness to do work, conflicts with other students, lethargy, irritability, confusion, etc. Remember we are a low sugar school when choosing snack and drink items for your child.

Breakfast is the most important part of the day! Children arrive to school and dive into learning. It’s very important for them to arrive well fed. Some healthy breakfast options are: cereal like granola and oatmeal, hardboiled eggs, bacon, breakfast sandwich, protein shake, fruit and nuts, banana bread, etc.

It’s also important for students to stay hydrated during the day, especially in the climate we live in. Please pack bottles of water. The student have access to a water fountain to refill as needed. We ask that you look at the sugar content before packing drinks such as some fruit juices and gator aid-type sports drinks. Don’t forget to pack a spoon and/or fork!

  • Hardboiled Eggs

  • Leftovers
  • Bento Boxes are compartmented lunch boxes that hold a variety of food items. This has been very popular in the Lower School.

Snacks

  • Cheese Sticks
  • Fruit
  • Apple Sauce
  • Dried Fruit
  • Veggies: carrots, celery, cucumber, broccoli, snap peas
  • Hummus
  • Peanut Butter
  • Guacamole/Avocado
  • Crackers, Chips, Veggie Sticks, Popcorn, Pretzels

  • Nuts/Trail mix
  • Juice/aloe juice/coconut water
  • Milk/Protien Shakes
